Acquisition to broaden Sportech’s share of European market
(UK).- The online and land betting group Sportech has announced the acquisition of Data Tote Limited, a European provider of on-track and online greyhound and horse race betting services. Sportech has agreed an initial us$ 4.9 million in payment for the company, with a us$ 1.6 million deferred payment provision dependent on Data Tote performance.

New 24/7 Internet service through its website
(UK).- The UK Gambling Commission has upgraded its online services for licensed operators, saying in a statement that it plans a series of new internet services through its Gambling Commission.gov.uk website.
Over 5,000 terminals to be deployed by the end of 2013
(UK).- British bookmaker Coral has chosen BGT to supply software to the 1,000 betting terminals provided by TAB Austria to be rolled out across its UK estate. Following growth with other partners, BGT and TAB will more than double their UK betting estate with over 5,000 terminals being deployed by the end of this year.

(UK).- Innovative Technologies has made a statement regarding the Bank of England proposal to introduce polymer notes. “By utilising polymer, UK banknotes can take advantage of improved security and durability measures. Evidence points to lower counterfeiting risks and overall higher security, as polymer allows additional security measures to be added, which is another boost for the industry”
KPMG study warns of dangers of UK tax plans
(UK).- A KPMG study, commissioned by The Remote Gambling Association (RGA), has concluded that HM Treasury’s place of consumption tax regime for online gambling is likely to fail to achieve its aims unless the rate of gross profits tax is no higher than 10% and it makes allowances for companies to offset costs associated with bonuses and incentives.
