(US).- A group led by billionaire investor Carl Icahn is offering us$ 200 million to buy the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City. The low-ball offer shows just how steep a toll the recession has taken on the economy and the casino industry in particular; a year ago, the Tropicana was expected to fetch us$ 1 billion.

(US).- Gaming Partners International Corporation announced financial results for the fourth quarter and year ended last December 31. For the fourth quarter of 2008, the company reported revenues of us$ 15.7 million, which were down 21% compared to revenues of us$ 19.9 million for the fourth quarter of 2007.
