Connecticut Airport Authority proposes opening casino run by Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun at Bradley
The Connecticut Airport Authority seeks to open a casino with 2,000 slot machines and up to 150 tables within Bradley International Airport. Both Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun will serve as casino operators in a bid to be submitted, Executive Director Kevin Dillon told The Hartford Courant Tuesday.
Dillon told the Courant the casino would be located in one of two sites at the airport: on the lower floors of a new terminal planned at the airport or on top of a new transportation center to be built in 2017 to house bus transfers and rental car agencies.
The airport is one of several potential Northern Connecticut locations proposed to compete with the Springfield casino project, set to open in three years.
To open a casino within the airport, tribal and transportation officials would need approval from the town.
"We have approached Windsor Locks to move this forward with us," Dillon told the Courant. "This would be a nice amenity for travelers and another source of non-aeronautical revenue for the airport."
Other proposed locations for a new Connecticut casino include East Hartford and Enfield.
