Capen operates The Little Lottery, The Sports Lotto and Zaffo. The UKGC cited "concerns that activities may have been carried out contrary to the Gambling Act."

The UK Gambling Commission has suspended the operating license of charitable lottery operator Capen with immediate effect as the regulator undertakes a review into the licensee's activities.

"The review follows concerns that activities may have been carried out contrary to the Gambling Act, not in accordance with a condition of their licence and that the Licensee may be unsuitable to carry on the licensed activities," the UKGC said in a statement on Tuesday. It said the review is under section 116 of the Gambling Act 2005.

Capen operates The Little Lottery, The Sports Lotto and Zaffo. It received its operating license in 2014 and obtained a software license in 2017. It was founded by its current CEO, Simon Rydings, and it specializes in raffle-type draws with smaller prizes. According to the marketing messaging for The Little Lottery, 23% of funds from this brand go to good causes.
