Casino Del Sol in Tucson, Arizona announced a new retail sportsbook called SolSports, set to tentatively open in September, pending regulations from the Arizona Department of Gaming, announced the company August 24.
The venue will allow Casino Del Sol guests to “wager on a variety of sporting events,” and the addition follows the expanded gaming legislation passed by state lawmakers in April 2021. Construction is already underway, describes a press release.
SolSports is being built in the former Paradiso Lounge space at the casino and will count with 4,000-square-foot of venue space. The sportsbook will “surround guests with more than 60 televisions”, including jumbo flat screens and a high-definition video wall to allow viewing “from every angle.”
“Our goal is to continue to add to our offerings, so we are looking forward to providing our guests with another exceptional gaming experience with our new sportsbook,” said CEO of Casino Del Sol, Kimberly Van Amburg.
The venue will count with new booths and tables with luxury seating and six live betting windows with assistance personnel. Casino Del Sol and Casino of the Sun, also operated by the company, will also have self-service sports betting kiosks located throughout both properties.
But besides providing seating for more than 100 people to engage in sports-related activities, the venue will also feature a full bar and food service. The sportsbook aims at providing “the ultimate environment for guests” to watch and bet on professional and college sporting events.
Casino Del Sol is set to manage all sports betting activities as the operator, instead of partnering with an out-of-state third-party. OpenSports, the sports betting technology from Scientific Games, will serve as the backend platform powering SolSports.
“The OpenSports solution is a robust and scalable platform that can withstand all the pressures associated with major sporting events, while providing customers with an extensive range of markets,” said Van Amburg.
Cathryn Lai, SVP & GM U.S., Digital at Scientific Games, said: “We believe Arizona’s sports betting market will grow rapidly in size and we look forward to providing customers with a first-class offering.” The partnership with Casino Del Sol marks the company’s first market entry into the state.
Casino Del Sol is owned and operated by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, which also manages other enterprises including Casino of the Sun, Estrella at Casino Del Sol, AVA Amphitheater, Sewailo Golf Club, Casino Del Sol RV Park, and the Del Sol Marketplace.
