The new measure was installed last week. Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa both stated on their websites that they will restrict access to those who cannot provide full vaccination certificates, or who do not have a valid negative pre-event test result. While Resorts World has been restricting access since Oct. 15, Marina Bay Sands will follow suit from Oct. 20.

Singapore’s casino resorts closed their doors on unvaccinated visitors last week after introducing a new rule requiring players to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19, or natural immunity.

In a statement released by the company, Marina Bay Sands Casino Resort stated that it is open only for those who “are fully vaccinated, have a valid negative pre-event test result, or have a valid exemption”.

From 20 October, Marina Bay Sands will implement the “vaccination-differentiated safe management measures” across the entire property, including the hotel and shopping mall.

The property also reiterated the safety measures that apply in the casino and resort, which limit the number of patrons in private salons and at each gaming table, and place the electronic gaming machines and slots at least 3.3 feet apart.

Resorts World Sentosa noted that “in line with the latest Covid-19 regulations, only fully vaccinated persons are permitted to enter the casino” starting 15 October. It also confirmed that only two players were allowed simultaneously per gaming table. Alternate slots and electronic table games machines are being “kept empty”.

Both resorts have previously reported Covid-19 cases at the properties and have to undergo a strict quarantine that closed the resorts for around 14 days.
