Lawsuit settlement sees Bodog.com back online

The settlement ends the series of 1st Technology lawsuits concerning the alleged use of patents owned by 1st Technology, lawsuits previously described by Bodog as frivolous.

1st Technology gained control of the Bodog.com domain after Bodog failed to respond to a suit filed in the State of Nevada alleging patent infringement, which resulted in a us$ 46.8 million default judgment being issued against the online gaming operator in June 2007. In August of that year, the registrar of Bodog's domain names was ordered to remove all name servers associated with Bodog and Calvin Ayre, rendering the domains useless.

As of yesterday morning Bodog.com is back online, redirecting visitors to the company's BodogLife.com site. "While the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group was not the judgment debtor, the MMGG is the exclusive licensee of the "Bodog" brand within the region and, as such, activities that impact the brand necessarily impact our businesses," said Alwyn Morris, CEO for the Morris Mohawk Gaming Group.

"We are pleased to have worked constructively with 1st Technology and its principals to bring an end to this protracted dispute. This resolution will provide certainty and will also allow us to continue to enhance our technology base for online gaming in order to provide our users with unfettered access to the best technology."
