The Zambian government said this week that it will soon issue a new measure to regulate the operations of casinos in the country, state run news agency reported.

The Ministry of Tourism and Arts and the Ministry of Justice will soon issue the statutory instrument to oversee operations of casinos, according to the Zambia News and Information Service (ZANIS).

Minister of Tourism and Arts Charles Banda said the new measure was aimed at maximizing the benefits of casino business while minimizing the negative effects.

The ministry was also working to boost the casino monitoring capacity to ensure that casinos are operated according to stipulated guidelines.

The ultimate goal was to come up with a National Gambling Board in line with best international practices, he added.
