MGM National Harbor, the USD 1.4M casino and hotel scheduled to open Dec. 8, released details about its features — including a chocolate fountain and art by Bob Dylan.

The Potomac River resort is emphasizing its meeting space that it hopes will make it a large draw for conferences.

MGM is marketing the property as a base for visitors touring the nation's capital area. It says its 50,000 square feet of meeting space will accommodate up to 4,000 guests

The resort will offer a nod to Las Vegas properties also owned by MGM Resorts International:

•A 16,200-square-foot space overlooking the river will be called the MGM Grand Ballroom.

•A smaller ballroom will be named after the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas.

•Three meeting rooms are named for the ARIA, Mandalay Bay and Beau Rivage casinos, and two boardrooms will be named after the Mirage.

But the casino's design is not gaudy because, MGM says, the national capital area has such a different sensibilities than Las Vegas.

The 24-story hotel offers 308 rooms. There is a spa, theater and restaurants, including a pastry shop with a 26-foot-tall chocolate fountain.

Art in the resort's public spaces will include a metal sculpture by Dylan, the singer-songwriter and Nobel laureate.

Maryland's sixth casino will include slots, table games and poker.

The resort says it is accepting room reservations for stays beginning December 10 at nightly rates starting at $399. Suite rates begin at $599.
