The woman who defrauded SkyCity Casino in Hamilton for USD 1.4M has been sent to jail for seven years and eight months.

Grant obtained the money from SkyCity Casino by using cheques drawn on its account totalling USD 1.4M.

In the court summary, it detailed 71 transactions Grant made between December 2008 and April 2013, totalling $1.98m, that were supposed to be for SkyCity business, but which she put into her own account.

Crown Prosecutor Ross Douch said Grant's overriding motivation was for personal satisfaction and was not remorseful apart from getting caught.

Grant's lawyer Guyon Foley told the court that his client was abjectly remorseful and had tried to make matters right.

Grant during her time as the school's commercial manager in 2014 and 2015.
