Norway's gambling monopoly system is the safest for players - official
“After looking at all available models, Norway took the view that a monopoly regulatory model provided the safest environment,” the IAGR said in Twitter following the intervention of Mr. Hamar who served as president of the organization in 2007. The Norwegian official also reaffirmed the country's decision to fight gray market operations.
In Norway, there are two state-run organizations in charge of the gambling services-On eis the Norsk Rikstoto, which manages the horse racing industry. The second one is the Norsk Tipping which is responsible for other non-horse racing gambling operations.
In December 2016, the government of Norway said it was retaining the existing regulatory model that gives Norsk Tipping and Norsk Rikstoto a monopoly on the provision of gaming and betting services, deciding not to liberalize the country’s gambling market or offer licences to private operators.
