“For 15 years and especially since the publication of the list of conditions in July, the multinational Cirsa, together with Georges Kapital as a partner, have been assessing the viability of the project from a technical and economic standpoint and has finally presented two proposals for different locations in the Principality. In both cases, the projects include an extensive gaming offer including restaurants and a wide number of additional entertainment facilities,” has released Spanish operator Cirsa Gaming Corporation in relation to the two bids the company has made for the casino licence now available in Andorra.
The bidding process has been supervised by the Andorran Gaming Control Board (CRAJ), which has also set October 31st as the deadline to submit management offers. According to the CRAJ, operators must first show the availability of land, building or premises for the casino and show that it must have at least 2,000 square meters for the public, not including terraces and outdoor spaces. Once this has been established the board, along with other government bodies, will award points based on a number of other key criteria.
So far, the only known details about the bidding process are that the Andorrean casino will be located on the border between France and Spain, and that the maximum score that each offer can reach will stand at one hundred.
Cirsa's statement adds, “CIRSA foresees a significant increase in the number of tourists and overnight stays in the Principality, as well as an important economic impact on the Pyrenean country, including the creation of both new direct and indirect jobs. CIRSA’s investment also includes training plans for new employees as well as publicity campaigns aimed at promoting responsible gaming among its target audiences, as well as the opening of several channels of collaboration with the Universitat d’Andorra.”
The proposed casino CIRSA Andorra Escaldes Engordany will revolve around the construction of a unique building located in the land known as El Clot d’Emprivat in Escaldes-Engordany. The building will encompass an area of 2,500 square meters distributed over three floors, including gaming and non-gaming space and will include a restaurant, bars and event rooms, in addition to a terrace for live music and other social events. It will, if approved, also have underground parking measuring 4,805 square meters. The opening of this casino would be in 2020.
The second proposal is the casino Cirsa Andorra Caldea located in the spa resort in Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra. This project would be located in a two-floor space which is currently not in use in the Parque de La Mola de Escaldes-Engordany. The project stands out for its wide range of non-gaming attractions on offer including a first class restaurant, bars and event rooms as well as extensive parking facilities. The opening of this casino would be scheduled for 2018.
