This year's Caribbean Poker Party will take place from Friday November 9 – Sunday November 18, 2018 at Baha Mar, the Caribbean's newest integrated resort destination and casino, located on New Providence Island in The Bahamas. Satellites start on partypoker.com in April when players will be able to win full prize packages from as little as $0.50.
More than 2,000 players are expected to attend this year's Caribbean Poker Party including hundreds of qualifiers and a host of Partypoker ambassadors and sponsored professionals. Total prizepool for the event has been doubled this year to $10,000,000. In addition to the $5 million guarantee Main Event, the Caribbean Poker Party schedule also includes the $1k MILLIONS Open, a $10k High Roller, a $25k Super High Roller and $5k MILLIONS Finale.
The spectacular $4.2 billion beachfront development of Baha Mar spans 1,000-acres and is home to over 2,300 guest rooms and suites across three global hotel operators: Grand Hyatt Baha Mar, SLS Baha Mar and Rosewood Baha Mar. The 100,000-square-foot Baha Mar Casino is the largest casino in the Caribbean, boasting floor to ceiling windows overlooking the turquoise blues of the ocean and resort pools. Other amenities include 42 restaurants, bars and lounges; more than 30 luxury retailers; 11 swimming pools; an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course; PBI Racquet Club and the Caribbean's only flagship ESPA spa.
"We are thrilled to welcome Partypoker's 2018 Caribbean Poker Party and players to Baha Mar," said Alex Pariente, Executive Vice President, Casino Operations & Marketing, Baha Mar. "Baha Mar Casino is a one-of-a-kind destination, and we look forward to bringing the preeminent poker event in the Caribbean to the Bahamas and celebrating this year's million dollar winners at Baha Mar."
"The Bahamas is one of the most amazing poker destinations in the world and being at Baha Mar is going to make this year's Caribbean Poker Party even more special," said John Duthie, President, Partypoker LIVE. "It's an incredible resort and I think players are going to be blown away by it. Plus there's the poker of course; we have now doubled last year's prize pool guarantees so there's an awful lot of money to be won. This year's Caribbean Poker Party really is a must-play event for everyone."
"With satellites starting at just 50 cents on partypoker.com – and with well over six months of qualification opportunities ahead of us – we are certainly going to have more players in the Bahamas than ever before," added Mike Sexton, President, Partypoker. "It's going to be a hugely exciting event."
Qualifiers for the event will win an amazing package, which includes their $5,300 Main Event buy-in, a nine-night stay at Baha Mar with daily breakfast and a $1,000 resort credit, as well as $2,000 cash towards travel expenses. Satellites will start from 50 cents, with quarterfinals at $22 and semi-finals at $109. Players can buy in to any stage of the qualification path including the weekly finals, which are held every Sunday and come with ten seats guaranteed and cost $1,050 to enter. As well as hundreds of regular satellites, Partypoker also plans a number of unique promotions enabling players to win their $5,300 seat – including Leaderboard promotions.
Following the popular formula pioneered for all Partypoker LIVE events, there will be multiple Day 1s for the Caribbean Poker Party. Players who win their seats online will be able to choose between any of the live Day 1s and can even use their prize to buy into Day 2. Players can re-enter once per Day 1 and can also enter as many Day 1s as they like, with their largest stack being carried through to Day 2. Players who buy into Day 1 or Day 2 for $5,300 will receive 1,000,000 chips.
At least three players will become instant millionaires at Baha Mar – with the winner of the Main Event banking a life-changing $1.4 million. The runner-up and third-place finisher will take home $1.2 million and $1 million respectively, and at least 250 players will get paid, with a minimum payout of $10,000.
Last year's $5,300 Main Event attracted 1,061 entries and was won by Sam Greenwood. The Canadian pro snagged the $1,000,000 first prize after a phenomenal week in which he finished third in the $10k High Roller and runner-up in the $25k Super High Roller. His overall winnings by the end of the festival amounted to more than $1.3 million.
