The World Poker Tour is adding more events to the Asia-Pacific region. Adding to the recently announced WPT Japan and WPT Korea events and building off a successful WPT New Zealand festival, WPT Vietnam will take place September 26-October 4, 2018, at Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh. WPT India returns to Deltin Royale Casino in Goa from November 13-19.

WPT Vietnam features a VND 22 million buy-in (approx. USD $1,000) Main Event running September 28-October 2, with a guarantee of VND 8 billion (approx. USD $345,000). The festival also features the WPT Vietnam High Roller event, priced at VND 44 million (approx. USD $2,000), and a three-day WPT Pro Poker Club Superstack Classic with a VND 11 million (approx. USD $500) buy-in.

“We are honored to partner with the World Poker Tour and bring WPT Vietnam to Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh,” GAMAX Investment Sports & Entertainment’s Founder and CEO Denis Pham said. “Pro Poker Club has had outstanding success this year, with thousands of entries across our major tournament series. We look forward to elevating the offering we provide our players with the addition of WPT Vietnam starting in September.”

WPT Japan takes place September 15-17 in Tokyo, followed by WPT Korea September 18-24 at Paradise City Casino in Incheon, South Korea.

In an effort to help players go from event to event during the Asia Swing, players that participate in WPT Japan will have a unique opportunity to compete in the opening stages of the WPT Korea Main Event. Players at WPT Japan can play the first stage of WPT Korea starting in Japan, and those who advance will join the next stage of the WPT Korea Main Event at Paradise City.

WPT Korea includes the first-ever WPT Teams Event, taking place September 19-21 and created by McDonagh. The event is capped at 16 teams and entry is USD $5,000 per team. Each team is made up of four players, with one team maximum per country. The teams will compete against one another in up to six poker events that include variations of no-limit Texas hold’em and pot-limit Omaha events. The winning team will receive WPT Korea Main Event entries for each of its players. Confirmed teams include Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, United Kingdom, and the USA. The confirmed teams include some truly top poker talent as captains. Sam Razavi is heading up the UK team, Bryan Huang is captaining the team from Singapore, and Sparrow Cheung is in charge of the team from Hong Kong.

Following an outstanding opening year of WPT India, Deltin Royale Casino in Goa will once again host the World Poker Tour for WPT India in partnership with Adda52. Within the WPT India festival that runs November 13-19, the INR 55,000 buy-in (approx. USD $800) Main Event runs November 16-19. In its first year, the WPT India Main Event attracted 527 entries and was won by Vikash Mantri for INR 6.03 million (approx. USD $92,000).

Mohit Agarwal, Founder & CEO of Adda52.com, shared his excitement about the return of WPT India: “We are excited to host the second season of the WPT at India’s largest casino, Deltin Royale in Goa. With a population of 1.3 billion, India has a booming poker scene and the game is growing in popularity by the day. WPT India is a perfect fit for the Indian poker community and puts India firmly on the global poker tournament map.”

The WPT India festival also contains the WPT India High Roller, Superstack, Bounty, and Shootout events.

Drawing from the WPT Asia Swing, the player that performs the best across WPT Japan, WPT Korea, and WPT Vietnam will be awarded with a package to the WPT India Main Event that includes buy-in and accommodations.

Players in WPT Japan, WPT Korea, WPT Vietnam, and WPT India are all eligible for the WPT Asia-Pacific Player of the Year competition. WPT India players are also eligible for the WPT India Player of the Year competition.
