In a word: Excellent. At yet another record-breaking ICE Merkur Gaming set a few records too. The most significant being the extension of our booth, meaning that this was the largest exhibition space that the Gauselmann Group had taken; anywhere and at any time. It was widely said last year that the 2018 ICE was the best ICE ever. Naturally, that led us to as the question ‘how can the best get even better?’. Well, the numbers did not lie. ICE 2019 had more exhibitors, more booth space and more visitors than ever before, that latter statistic fully justifying our decision to increase our booth space. We, together with the thousands of gaming professionals that visited us over three days, had a truly excellent show that was positive from start to finish.
As always, the games led the way. Merkur Gaming presented over 140 games, some as part of multigame mixes and some standalone. With great titles, such as Savanna Stampede and Snow Wolf Supreme and an enlarged portfolio of US-inspired and created games from our Las Vegas design studio Sunshine Games, there was something for everyone. Also, thanks to a recently announced strategic technology alliance with the Slovenian company Spintec we gave an international debut to the brand new Merkur Roulette. This product, which is of exceptional quality and which has been produced in true Merkur style, is an exciting advancement for our product offering and, based on the results of the response that it received at ICE, we are confident of it being a major success.
As I said at the start of this interview, one word ‘Excellent’ told the story. ICE did indeed meet our expectations and, while the show followed its usual format, there was a feeling of excitement – a real buzz –that everyone, exhibitors and visitors alike commented on. Global events such as ICE and G2E in Las Vegas represent a celebration of the gaming industry and demonstrate very clearly that we are all part of the wider entertainment industry. Now we can return to question ‘How can the best be even better?’ As yet, no one knows … but it is going to be a lot of fun to find out!
As every year the schedule for Merkur Gaming is dominated with trade shows and exhibitions around the world. Next up for our International team comes the Irish Gaming Show in Dublin (a market that we entered some time ago and one that is growing in importance for us) then the focus switches to California and the annual NIGA show that this year returns to San Diego and will mark an important milestone for Merkur Gaming US and our carefully planned commitment to both the tribal government gaming and commercial land based casino sectors. The remainder of the year will see us exhibiting at many of the key events around the world, a reflection of Merkur Gaming’s brand and its place at the forefront of the international gaming industry.
