The NBA has landed a sportsbook partner in Australia, where basketball is becoming increasingly popular.
The league on Tuesday announced a partnership with bookmaker BetEasy that will make the new sportsbook the first exclusive wagering partner of the NBA in Australia.
BetEasy receives the right to use NBA assets in marketing materials. In return, the NBA will promote BetEasy on its online platforms, including the league's localized Australian Facebook and Twitter feeds.
The NBA also has partnered with betting operators in France, Mexico and Uruguay and continues to explore additional opportunities, domestic and international.
"Australia has set the standard for cooperation between leagues and sports betting operators, and we are excited to leverage the local and global expertise of BetEasy to create the best possible gaming experience for our passionate NBA fans in Australia," Scott Levy, NBA vice president and managing director of NBA Asia, said in the release announcing the partnership.
Launched in August 2018, BetEasy offers mobile sports betting and a streaming platform for sports and horse racing. It is part of the gambling conglomerate The Stars Group, which also partners with the NBA in the U.S. through its BetStars brand.
"Basketball is the most popular and fastest-growing sport for Australian wagering customers and our partnership with the NBA will allow us to offer the best NBA betting experience for our customers," BetEasy CEO Matt Tripp said in the release.
