The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, which was sold in February 2018, has made the decision to close its door completely during a full-scale renovation. Originally reported by Las Vegas Review-Journal, the decision comes as the hotel undergoes a complete rebrand. The property, purchased by Virgin Hotels, was originally slated to phase in an 8-month renovation, half of which would occur while the hotel remained open for business.
"We determined that a phased closing of four months, followed by a total closure of four months was not efficient from a construction process nor could we provide a hospitality service experience our guests deserve,” JC Hospitality President and CEO Richard Bosworth (Virgin’s partner) told both outlets in a statement.
The hotel is expected to open between Nov. 15, 2020 and Dec. 15, 2020. The specific opening date will be announced down the road. Contractors have said the renovation could potentially be finished as early as Oct. 15, 2020, but the hotel won’t be booking based upon that more ambitious timeline.
Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will close after the Super Bowl on Feb. 2 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.
Before closing, Hard Rock guests can see live performances by Brian Wilson and The Zombies, Cake & Ben Folds, Greta Van Fleet, Daughtry, Stone Temple Pilots and comedian Demetri Martin.
