Seneca Gaming Corp. will open the first of its three regional sports betting lounges on Friday. The first bets will be taken at Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, signaling Seneca Gaming’s official foray into the lucrative sports betting industry. Seneca Nation of Indians President Rickey Armstrong Sr. will cast the first bet at the Seneca Buffalo Creek Sports Lounge, joined by former Buffalo Sabres player John Tucker at the ribbon cutting ceremony in the morning.
Sports betting lounges will also be opening soon at the Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in Niagara Falls and Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino in Salamanca. For now, only those three on-site locations will handle Seneca-backed sports betting, Buffalo Business First reports.
The Senecas have been working on creating sports betting lounges for more than one year after the state approved the measure. A recently signed deal with the Kambi Group, who will help operate the Senecas sports betting platforms, was one of the elements needed before the betting options could commence at the three regional casinos.
Seneca Resorts and Casinos has added electronic kiosk stations and in-person windows to take bets. Seneca Gaming CEO Holly Gagnon said in-play betting will also be available. Additionally, Seneca Gaming is hoping to hire more than 100 people to help run the sports betting lounges.
Casino patrons will be able to cast bets on professional football, hockey, basketball, soccer and other sports along with some collegiate sports. Real time boards and betting kiosks will run on a 24/7 basis at the three casinos. Bets will only be taken inside the casino lounges, although customers can build a bet on their smartphone. The QR code will only work within the lounges, with odds determined when the bets are officially placed.
Seneca Resorts is now the exclusive Buffalo Sabres sportsbook partner following the creation of the Seneca Sports Lounge inside KeyBank Center and is being named the exclusive casino partner of the Buffalo Bills.
