By means of executive order No. 28-GPBA-19, Axel Kicillof, the new governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, accepted the resignation of Matías Lanusse and formally named his Chief of Staff, Carlos Bianco, as the new head of the Buenos Aires Province Lottery.
Kicillof accepted, as of December 10, 2019, the resignation of Matías Lanusse as President of the Buenos Aires Province Institute of Lottery and Casinos, as well as his team's. Under such executive order, he also appointed the Province’s Chief of Staff Carlos Alberto Bianco, as the new head of the provincial lottery.
It is worth noting that in mid-2019, a process to award seven online gaming licenses was opened in the territory, which drew much attention within the local industry, due to the economic potential of the jurisdiction. About 17 companies joined the race for an online gaming license but the process remained opened and with no definitions after former governor María Eugenia Vidal lost the primary, and then the general elections.
Now, the new lottery authorities must decide whether to continue with the licensing process or suspend it entirely.
