India’s only listed casino company, Delta Corp Ltd, is set to operate a casino at the Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu. Reportedly, it will be the company’s first market presence outside India.
“Our subsidiary in Nepal has been issued a licence for operating a casino in Nepal,” Delta Corp confirmed to the Bombay Stock Thursday. The operations of the casino are expected to commence soon, the Mumbai-based company said in a statement.
The new venture is a result of the company’s agreement with Everest Hospitality and Hotel Pvt Ltd, to lease space at the Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu, Online Khabar reports. The agreement was signed in 2017. Everest Hospitality and Hotel is a subsidiary of Nepal-based hospitality firm MS Group.
Shares of Delta Corp jumped 7.8 per cent at ₹197.15 on the BSE after the announcement. The company’s segments include real estate, gaming, hospitality and others. It operates its gaming and hospitality businesses under the DELTIN brand. Delta Corps owns three casinos in Goa, including Deltin Royale, Deltin JAQK and Deltin Caravela.
