A private plane owned by Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson has delivered a donation of two million surgical masks in New York and Nevada.
The plane first stopped in Albany, where it delivered 500 boxes holding one million masks from China for health care workers and first responders. The Boeing 767 airplane’s next stop was Las Vegas, where an additional one million masks came out of the cargo bay for frontline workers.
“This pandemic has called on each of us to use every ability we have to help those most impacted by the crisis,” Adelson said in a statement, as reported by Reno Gazette Journal. “I am grateful we can leverage our resources to get these donations to the front lines, and we send them with the best wishes of our company and team members.”

Sands has so far donated more than 2.5 million pieces of personal protection equipment to Nevada, New York, California and Massachusetts. The private casino company also donated 1,900 coronavirus test kits to Nevada, where Sands will soon donate 20,000 protective suits as well.
Las Vegas Sands has also offered help to on-the-ground resort workers. About 1,200 workers at 14 restaurants inside The Venetian will get emergency pay through the current COVID-19 shutdown of the Strip.
Las Vegas Sands will cover payroll costs for salaried employees and give weekly stipends to hourly and part-time employees. The internal restaurant stimulus is in addition to Sands paying 9,300 company employees through April 30, when Nevada’s mandated closure is set to end.
