Genting Malaysia has unveiled the reopening date of its properties in the United Kingdom and Malaysia.
Resorts World Genting (RWG) is an integrated hill resort development comprising hotels, shopping malls, theme parks and casinos, perched on the peak of Mount Ulu Kali, Malaysia.
RWG will resume operations this Friday after being shut for three months since March 18 due to the Movement Control Order (MCO), implemented as a preventive measure by the federal government of Malaysia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Genting Malaysia said it would enhance safety measures in place for RWG to ensure the health and safety of its guests and employees.
Due to limited capacity, the entry to SkyCasino in SkyAvenue and Genting Club in Genting Grand Hotel would be only for Genting Rewards members, adding that public entry into the casino would resume as soon as possible, the New Strait Times reports.
"RWG has re-engineered its processes and developed a comprehensive safety plan in line with the government's guidelines and global best practices," the company explained in a statement.
"The protocols cover social distancing measures, enhanced cleaning and disinfection processes, as well as the deployment of service ambassadors among others," Genting added. "Service ambassadors are specially trained customer-facing employees who will assist and guide returning guests on the resort's enhanced safety measures."
Genting Malaysia also announced that its casino operations in the United Kingdom will be resuming next month, the Sun Daily reports. The group said retail shopping outlets at Resorts World Birmingham (RWB) had reopened on June 15, while all other offers at RWB and all its UK land-based casinos remain temporarily closed.
“Nevertheless, the British authorities have indicated that land-based casinos and all other offers at RWB can reopen from July 4 subject to conditions. Preparations are currently underway for the resumption of the majority of our operations from July 4,” the company said in a Bursa filing.
It also said Resorts World Casino New York City and Resorts World Catskill in the United States remain temporarily shuttered, however, preparations are in place for the properties to reopen soon.
