"We are truly thankful for the support we have received from Gaming Business Community (GBC). They are thoroughly familiar with the African market and we are confident that, together, we will be able to delve into its sustainable development," said Alan Burak, Vice President of Monografie, organizers of SAGSE LatAm in Buenos Aires and the online edition of SAGSE Talks dedicated to Latin America.
"We are the largest online news publication covering the gambling industry in Africa. More than 10,000 industry leaders read our news site, and that makes us the top gambling outlet in the region. We cover news related to iGaming, sports betting, lottery, poker, casino, payment methods, bitcoin, cryptocurrency, esports, interviews, and business analysis," said John Bamidele, founder of GBC.
Africa is completely dependent on mobile devices, and that makes it unique. Mobile phones are used to identify citizens and in some African countries, they are even used to vote. As an industry, both regulators and companies can leverage this to create an ecosystem with safer data management. This not only helps boost responsible gaming efforts but also facilitates the development of KYC guidelines.
"Africa is way ahead of many regions in terms of online and mobile devices. In most of the continent, the adoption of mobile devices and the use of 4G took place way before Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Not long ago, mobile devices were not monetized and even though most of the population already had them, the industry took quite some time to catch up. But now, their influence can no longer be underestimated. In Western Africa, just Nigeria has seen Internet penetration grow from 30% to 50% in the last three years, according to the local telecommunications committee. Business Monitor International forecasts a population rise from 153 million to 182 million inhabitants for 2021. Sixty percent of that number is made up of young adults and that translates into more online gambling," Bamidele concluded.
