"We are the only company in our industry and likely one of few in the broader hospitality industry who has not furloughed or laid off employees because of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson in a letter to employees.

In a letter to team members on Wednesday, Las Vegas Sands Chairman and CEO Sheldon Adelson announced the company will continue to pay its employees amid the coronavirus pandemic through at least Oct. 31.

"The pandemic has changed almost everything but not the company's commitment to its employees," Adelson stated.

Adelson says Sands will maintain pay and benefits for team members at Venetian-Palazzo —the company's properties in Las Vegas— through the end of October even as business demands decline amid the pandemic, KTNV Las Vegas reports.

Sands has not furloughed or laid off any of its employees due to the pandemic. This is something Adelson also noted in the letter, "To my knowledge, we are the only company in our industry and likely one of few in the broader hospitality industry who has not furloughed or laid off employees because of the COVID-19 pandemic."
