Connecticut casinos see decline in slot-machine revenue in December
Connecticut casinos reported last week a new month of shrunken slot-machine revenues amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun have both been operating at 25% percent of capacity since the resurgence of the coronavirus disease, The Day reports.
Foxwoods reported it “won,” or kept, $21.5 million after paying out prizes in December, a 36.1% decline from the $33.6 million it kept during the same month the previous year. Mohegan Sun kept $32.2 million in December slots revenue, down 26.6% from $43.9 million a year ago.
Foxwoods operated about 1,875 machines in December, about 400 fewer than in November, and Mohegan Sun operated nearly 2,600 machines, about the same number as in previous months.
Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, which contribute 25% of their slots revenues to the state, reported that they sent $6.1 million and $8.1 million, respectively, to Hartford.
