After the pandemic struck, contactless payment has gained popularity in almost every sector. However, having implemented a cash automated system by Innovative Technology, The Café Royal in Annan Scotland, UK, finds that cash is still the preferred payment choice.
CashGenic, the cash automation solution, was launched last year, in sight of the customers’ need to pay by cash in an hygienic manner. It was installed in the Café Royal in March, and has seen a rise in cash payments, as well as a reduction in cash floats.
The solution, branded as £XCHEKKA, is available as a compact, all-in-one counter-top device, with pay-in and pay-out managed by staff via a mobile tablet device.
Owner of the Café Royal and National Federation of Fish Friers member John Pagani spoke about Innovative Technology’s solution in a press release. “The amount of coins the business needs has been dramatically reduced, we used to get around £1200 a week from the bank for floats, this is now down to £200-£300 a week, a huge cost saving. This alone is impressive, but it also benefits us in terms of security as we don’t have to hold as much cash in the safe.”.
“Overall, it’s been a tremendous success”, he continued. “We have been looking for something like this for a long time, but suitable systems seemed only available at a very high price”, he pointed out, and added that the product “is affordable, so much so, we ordered two. One for our indoor café and the other for our take-away”.
Pagani also commented on the hygienic aspect of the system. “Staff love it, they no longer have to count change”, said in reference to Covid and the protocols to prevent infection.
Chris Woodall, Managing Director of CC Dynamic, added that “customers who install £XCHEKKA are seeing some excellent time and cost saving efficiencies and even more importantly - an uptake in cash payment”, he pointed out. “Their customers are reacting positively too. At The Café Royal, customers are even bringing cash specifically to have a go at using the new machine”.
Andy Bullock, Senior Business Development Manager ITL, also spoke in a press release about the cash automated system. “We are delighted that CC Dynamic, one of our CashGenic UK suppliers, have been rolling out the system. Working alongside Maggi Electronics, who are installing the cash handling device, they have successfully deployed £XCHEKKA at venues throughout England & Scotland, with many more in the pipeline”.
