West Virginia online casinos published their July profits of over $800.000 more than in June, topping a $4.7 million revenue last month, as reported by PlayWV.
The revenue results for July are superior to the state’s previous best month of around $4.3 million in May, as the West Virginian market expanded to 4 total platforms.
For the first time since the market launched, West Virginia casinos saw at least $1 million in each week. They earned more than $1.2 million twice, including their best week of almost $1.3 million on July 24.
Online casino revenue for July 2021 in West Virginia reached $4.7 million, which represents a 22% increase compared to the month prior.
The Greenbrier and its two online casinos led the way, with BetMGM Casino WV and FanDuel Casino WV combined for more than $2.4 million, which was about $180,000 fewer than June, PlayWV reports. Hollywood Casino and its DraftKings Casino WV finished second last month. DraftKings recovered with earnings up to almost $1.9 million in revenue.
Mountaineer Casino earned around $440,000, as its BetRivers Casino WV took in about $150,000 more in July revenue. BetRivers’ final week of July saw more than $160,000 in profits.
In terms of online casino handle, July 2021 saw a drop from June, as it fell 11% from last month with only $135 million in bets.
WV casinos accepted at least $30 million in bets for the 14th consecutive week.
Hollywood and its DraftKings app were leaders with about $260,000, defeating both The Greenbier platforms. DraftKings had around $63.4 million, compared to BetMGM and FanDuel closer to $63.1 million.
Even though DraftKings had an advantage over the rest, betting was down at each of the online apps. In June, DraftKings took in $67 million, and The Greenbrier totaled almost $80 million.
Both had slower weeks with fewer than $13 million in wagers over the course of July. DraftKings Casino was more consistent with weekly handle. The Greenbrier had the best single week with well over $19 million the week of July 17.
Mountaineer Casino’s Bet Rivers’ handle nearly hit $9.2 million, which was an increase of about $2.7 million from June.
July 2021 represents the first fiscal year 2022 for the WV Lottery, as June completed 2021 with online casino revenue totaling nearly $34 million.
