The regulating entity filed a complaint on September 13 after having issued three sports wagering violation letters to Red Rock Resorts, which had been accepting an estimate of 348 wagers on events with already known outcomes over a three-year period. Station Casinos claimed to have had an alleged computer malfunction that issued 167 wagering tickets that were later voided.

The Nevada Gaming Commission Board is seeking to impose a disciplinary action, such as a yet-to-be-determined fine or license revocation on Station Casinos after the company’s sportsbook inside Red Rock Resorts accepted an estimate of 348 wagers on events with already known outcomes over a three-year period.

The Control board filed a complaint on September 13 stating that the company had reported an issue to regulators on May 18, blaming the problem on an alleged computer malfunction caused by “insufficient server memory” for its Stadium Live sports wagering program.

Station Casinos claimed that the recent malfunction caused the issuance of 167 wagering tickets, which were later voided with the bets being refunded. However, the Board said the company was already “well aware of prior computer errors related” to the Stadium Live program.

In the period from 2018 to 2019, the Control Board issued three sports wagering violation letters to Red Rock Resorts. According to the complaint, the gaming regulators told the sportsbook operators they needed to have “a redundant monitoring process” in place to ensure wagers were not accepted on events like these.

“Respondents are responsible for any violation related to the Stadium Live Program. Toleration of such repeated violations constitutes ground for license revocation or other disciplinary action”, the Control Board wrote in the complaint, which was signed by all three board members.

A hearing date for the Nevada Gaming Commission has not yet been determined, as Station Casinos and the Control Board can still reach a stipulated settlement.

In a similar case which took place in 2018, sportsbook operator CG Technology paid a $2 million fine, comprising $1.75 million in penalties and $250,000 to the Nevada Council on Problem Gaming, to settle a four-count complaint filed by the Control Board. One of the counts involved accepting bets on games and events that had already concluded.
