Betting technology specialist Sportech, with core operations in the newly regulated Connecticut sports betting market, on Tuesday announced that Chief Executive Officer Andrew Lindley will step down. The company said that Lindley would “continue to support the company in the coming months”. In the meantime, non-executive chairman Richard McGuire has been appointed as executive chairman, effective immediately.
The announcements were made as part of a trading update and board changes ahead of its Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held Tuesday morning in London. The company said business for the first five months of 2022 has been in line with the board's expectations, with sports betting continuing to experience a high rate of growth, and the firm says it should see betting handle in the Group's Connecticut properties come close to that of pari-mutuel for the full year.
However, the London-listed betting-technology company said pari-mutuel wagering and food-and-beverage sales continue to be affected by the pandemic, with business remaining below 2019 levels.
Sportech will release its interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2022 on 1 September 2022.
