The International Center of Gaming Regulation (ICGR) of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) has launched the first-ever Sports Wagering & Gaming Week, which will feature two in-person events in Las Vegas. The Gaming Startup Bootcamp, on July 25-26, will target entrepreneurs entering the gaming space. Immediately following, the ICGR will host Principles of Sports Wagering: Policy & Operations, on July 27-28, which will provide a broad and deep education in sports wagering public policy, trends, operations, and other aspects of the gaming industry.
This program will take place at Black Fire Innovation, and will address the overarching state of venture capital post-Covid and amid global unrest. It will cover the legal aspects to establish a startup organization and how to navigate the complexities of compliance in a highly regulated innovation space. It will also provide insights into market assessment and go-to-market strategies, esports, sports wagering, human capital needs, the role of the incubator & accelerator, and culture to drive innovation.
Furthermore, there will be a Sports Wagering Roundtable with sports wagering experts discussing the current gaming ecosystem and what customers and operators are looking for; an Innovation Cycle Roundtable that will discuss ideation, selection, development and commercialization; and an eSports Roundtable with the latest examination of esports and the current trends driving innovation and market acceptance.
This program will also take place at Black Fire Innovation and will allow participants to gain a broad and deep education in sports wagering public policy, trends, operations, and other aspects of the gaming industry. Seminar topics include the current state of U.S. sports betting, federal law updates, operational models & vendor contracts, sports betting basics and terminology, responsible gaming, retail operations, sports wagering advertising, economics, integrity and legal issues.
In addition, it will offer a Sports Book Tour of over two hours at South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa that includes Q&A with the resort GM and head of sports book operations.
