Sports betting and iGaming operator BetMGM, along with the Arizona Cardinals, carried out Thursday a grand opening ceremony of the first sportsbook at a National Football League stadium. The BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium will open to the public Sunday, September 11 at 9 a.m. before the Cardinals open the 2022 regular season against the Kansas City Chiefs.
The sportsbook is described as a two-story, 17,000-square-foot entertainment destination featuring sports wagering amenities, concert-hosting facilities, a gourmet grille and bar and a variety of screens to watch games. Arizona Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwill, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt, MGM Resorts CEO & President Bill Hornbuckle and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey all participated in the ceremony.
The event was emceed by Arizona Cardinals broadcaster Paul Calvisi, and finished with the official ribbon cutting. Then the crowd proceeded to explore the new venue, while officials for the company, team and state delivered remarks to the audience.
BetMGM's Adam Greenblatt said: "The BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium is one of the most revolutionary additions an NFL stadium has seen in decades and unlike anything fans have encountered on gamedays."
Adam Greenblatt
"Right from the start, the Arizona Cardinals shared BetMGM's passion for the pursuit of improving fan experience to breaking down barriers and together this is what we've done," he added. "I cannot express how historic a day this is here in Glendale, Arizona. The opening of the first sportsbook on an NFL property is truly a milestone event."
Located on The Great Lawn, the BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium will operate on both event and non-event days, offering guests a 265-square-foot video wall, 38 televisions and indoor-and-outdoor dining options. All of this can be found steps away from trading windows and betting kiosks placed throughout the space.
