Following the successful launch of its online sportsbook in Ohio on January 1, online betting giant bet365 has formally marked its arrival in the Buckeye State by announcing a multi-year partnership with the MLB's Cleveland Guardians.
The partnership arrives as the Guardians are bidding to retain their AL Central title, their first since 2018. With American League Manager of the Year Terry Francona at the helm once again, bet365 is partnering with a franchise "looking to build on a hugely promising 2022, with a successful 2023," the company noted.
With sites live in New Jersey and Colorado, the Buckeye State became the third US sportsbook for bet365 and arrives just in time for the NFL playoffs and for the Guardians to make another push at the MLB World Series when the season gets underway in April.
A bet365 spokesperson commented: "Everyone at bet365 is thrilled to partner with the Guards, as we launch the world's favorite online sports betting brand in Ohio. The Guardians' rich history is deep-rooted in the Cleveland community, and we’re excited to become part of their exciting future."
The partnership will be seen for the first time at Guards Fest on January 21 at Huntington Convention Center. The bet365 lounge will be available for Guards fans aged 21 and over, with exclusive bet boosts and prize giveaways throughout the day.
Ted Baugh, Vice President of Corporate and Premium Partnerships of the Cleveland Guardians, said: "We’re very excited to work with bet365 as our exclusive mobile sports betting partner and welcome them to the State of Ohio."
"There is a tremendous bond between our organization and bet365. With nearly 90 million customers registered worldwide, bet365 is one of the world’s leaders in online gambling and will provide our fans a trusted source to complement our organization’s success on and off the field," he added.
Additionally, another bet365 representative stated: "We can’t wait to engage with Guards fans at Guards Fest. The Guardians are an elite franchise, with a passionate and loyal fanbase, and we're excited to create fan-focused activations that give back to the faithful Cleveland baseball fans."
"We look forward to launching our partnership with bet365 at our upcoming Guards Fest on January 21. This will provide our fans a great introduction to bet365 and give a glimpse of the many activations and entertainment opportunities available beginning this season," Baugh concluded.
Ahead of the state launch, bet365 rolled out the red carpet for new customers in Ohio, rewarding those who signed up early with $100 in free bets. Although the offer is no longer available, the free bet credits were automatically added to accounts when the site launched on January 1, subject to account verification.
New customers in Ohio can now claim bet365’s new customer offer, which will offer customers an additional $200 in bet credits once they deposit $10 and wager $1 off their own funds.
