Gaming provider Zitro has shared an update on its efforts to reduce its carbon footprint. The company saw major improvements on this front in 2021 and 2022 due to the renewal of its IT equipment.
In 2021, Zitro set itself the goal of reducing its carbon footprint by 80%. The company has not only achieved this target but exceeded it by achieving a further 50% reduction by 2022, the supplier said in a press release.
According to the company, this reduction has been made possible by investing in the renewal of all IT equipment to make its offices "more efficient and environmentally friendly."
"Zitro’s commitment to sustainability is not limited to reducing its carbon footprint. The company has also made a major effort to switch to renewable energies. 100% of the electricity consumption at the Barcelona technology campus now comes from renewable sources," the business noted.

The company further highlighted that its achievement of the ISO 14064-1 certification "sets a new benchmark in the gaming industry for sustainability and environmental responsibility." Lastly, the firm noted that its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and switching to renewable energy sources is "a significant step towards a more sustainable future."
Johnny Viveiros Ortiz, Founder of Zitro, commented: "We are proud to have achieved the ISO 14064-1 certification. This is a testament to our commitment to sustainability and reducing our impact on the environment. We will continue to invest in sustainable practices to ensure that we meet our goals and lead by example in the industry."
Earlier this month, the provider announced it has set "a new milestone" in its geographical expansion by arriving in Croatia with Spanish company Luckia. As a result of its latest deal with the supplier, Zagreb Casino already has "the most successful video slots on the market,” Zitro said in a statement.
