iGaming technology company Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) has announced the launch of GoldenPark in the Portuguese regulated online market. GoldenPark will be using GiG's player account manager (PAM) and sportsbook, further strengthening their existing partnership, which started in Spain in 2019.
The company notes that the launch is significant as not only GiG's second B2B partner brand in Portugal, following the previous launch of Betway in the country, but also represents the first time the GoldenPark brand has been available to any market outside of Spain.
GiG notes that its platform and sportsbook solutions are "specifically designed to suit operations within the most complex and highly regulated markets available," being licensed in 30 markets and with a further 8 in the development pipeline.
The company also pointed out that Portugal provides "one of the most robust regulatory online gaming frameworks in Europe," alongside a resolute taxation structure that facilitates the need for highly configurable solutions to help navigate opportunities for growth in the market.
The company says that its sportsbook has many years of experience with a similar model in France, and is built to allow for adaptable margins, giving sportsbook operators the opportunity to tailor their offering to remain "commercially attentive, and competitive."
The online gaming market in Portugal also offers considerable opportunities for growth. Revenue jumped 24.8% YoY to €196.4 million ($217.58 million) in Q1 2023, across the 28 license holders, 12 for sports betting and 16 for iGaming, according to data supplied by the regulator Servico de Regulacao e inspecao de Jogos (SRIJ).
David Bonnefous Saavdera, Commercial Director of GiG, said: “I'm pleased that we have been able to help expand GoldenPark's online operations into Portugal, delivering what we believe to be a product that is adaptable, resilient, and perfectly suited to serve the needs of operators in the Iberian peninsula."
"I'm also proud that GiG's expertise enables our partners to develop in a multi-regulation business, and gives them the chance to replicate the success they've had in their home country. ”
José A. Giacomelli, General Manager at MGA Games, said: “Portuguese regulation is in itself a major challenge for our operations. We are very happy to be able to face it together with GIG as a key factor in our success. Our expansion plans include strong growth in this country and we believe that the platform should help us to achieve this objective.”
