Clarion Gaming's Managing Director, Stuart Hunter, has reaffirmed the organization's continued support for gaming industry charity CHIPS (Charity of the Casino and Gaming Industry) beyond the ICE expo relocation from London to Barcelona. Chips has raised over £3 million ($3.74 million) to fund the purchase of wheelchairs for children with severe mobility issues.
Speaking during the annual CHIPS Golf Tournament, which featured three Clarion teams, Stuart Hunter said: "We are delighted to continue our long-standing relationship with Linda Lindsay and the team at CHIPS. At each edition of ICE, we have presented two chairs to CHIPS recipients and that commitment will continue when ICE relocates to Barcelona in 2025, albeit with the physical handover taking place at a special VIP event for the families held closer to home.
"CHIPS has presented an amazing 700 wheelchairs - a landmark achievement which has changed the lives of so many children and their families. Everyone at Clarion Gaming is so proud to support such a wonderful organization which was born out of the land-based gaming sector and continues to do such invaluable and humbling work," he added.
Responding to the announcement, Linda Lindsay, co-founder of CHIPS, said: "On behalf of the charity and my fellow trustees I would like to place on the record my sincere thanks to Stuart and the entire team at Clarion Gaming for their continued and generous support. CHIPS would not exist if it wasn't for the support of industry brands such as Clarion Gaming who enable us to give youngsters the twin gifts of independence and freedom."
"The demand from families has never been greater which is why I'm so proud to confirm that 100% of every donation goes towards the purchase of wheelchairs. No one associated with CHIPS claims a penny in expenses – which is exactly the way it should be," she added.
Clarion Gaming recently announced that it has shortlisted eight candidates from a pool of 24 international safer gambling organizations vying to become the official Charity Partner for the 2023/24 period, which includes the ICE, iGB L!VE, and iGB Affiliate events.
The partnership between Clarion Gaming and the selected charity will involve the charity being recognized as an ICE Ambassador and will include prominent branding during the lead-up to and throughout the 2024 editions of ICE, iGB Affiliate, and iGB L!VE.
