The Curaçao Gaming Control Board (CGCB) has granted operators an additional month to submit "high-quality" license applications as the original deadline passed with many submissions failing to meet expected standards.

Originally set for March 30, the deadline has been extended to April 30 to allow operators to rectify issues with their applications. The CGCB emphasized that this extension is the only one that will be granted and urged operators to ensure their submissions meet the required standards.

Failure to meet these standards could lead to processing delays, as the CGCB would need to request additional information and potentially make changes to the applications.

Curaçao is undergoing significant reforms in its gaming sector, including changes to how operators are regulated. Previously, master license holders could freely issue sub-licenses, but now sub-licensees must officially register with the CGCB.

The board highlighted that Minister of Finance Javier Silvania is committed to ensuring business continuity for sublicensees who wish to continue operating in the territory under the new regulatory framework. However, a significant number of applications were incomplete or failed to meet standards, prompting the extension.

During this extended period, the CGCB will continue processing applications in progress. Successful applicants will receive direct licenses under the current legislation, with their licenses transferring to the new regulatory framework once implemented.

The application process requires operators to submit three fully completed forms and attach requested documents. The aim is to enhance compliance standards and prevent fraudulent claims of Curaçao licensing.

In the meantime, the CGCB is nearing an agreement with the Australian Communications and Media Authority to prevent Curaçao licensees from targeting Australian consumers.
