The Swedish gambling regulator, Spelinspektionen, has launched a campaign aimed at young adults to highlight the risks and consequences of gambling for money.
The campaign, titled "With your future as a bet," specifically targets individuals aged 18 to 25. It seeks to raise awareness about the potential dangers of unhealthy gambling through emotionally resonant messages.
The initiative is being promoted across digital platforms frequented by the target demographic. Additionally, a dedicated page on the Spelinspektionen website offers detailed information about gambling and directs young people to available support resources.
"Many (young people) come into contact with some form of gambling for money via computer games and apps. Through the campaign, we try to talk about the consequences of unhealthy gambling in an emotional way," said Yvonne Hejdenberg, Spelinspektionen's Head of Communications. "We believe that the campaign will also be able to speak to adults, especially parents or relatives of children in the target group."
The campaign is a collaborative effort involving the Swedish Public Health Agency and the Swedish Crown Prosecutor, aiming to mitigate the negative impacts of gambling on young people.
In other recent news, Spelinspektionen recently took action against two game developers, Hacksaw Gaming and Panda Bluemoon, for their involvement with unlicensed online gambling sites in January. Hacksaw Gaming was fined SEK2.6 million ($250,000), while Panda Bluemoon received a penalty of SEK700,000.
