SBC Summit to offer series of free masterclasses with certification in Lisbon

The upcoming SBC Summit is set to offer attendees an opportunity to participate in a series of masterclasses, providing training and certification at no cost. These sessions, designed to enhance the event’s conference program, will take place from September 24-26 at Feira Internacional de Lisboa, specifically at the Academy & Live Training area near the Global Markets Lounge.

Three masterclasses have been confirmed for the event:

Sportsbook Training Services Masterclass

Jonathan Smith, founder of Sportsbook Training Services with over 25 years of experience in the betting industry, will lead this masterclass. On Tuesday, participants will explore the fundamentals of odds compiling and sports modeling techniques, gaining insights into the mathematical theories and statistical models that underpin odds creation.

The session will cover how data suppliers generate odds and offer strategies for more accurate sports outcome predictions. On Wednesday, a practical demonstration will guide attendees through the process of pricing an English Premier League football match, creating core markets, and developing additional markets such as bookings and corners, with an understanding of their integration into BetBuilders.

Electronic Gaming Management Masterclass

Lucien (Lucas) Wijsman, known for his expertise through The Slot Academy (now the Electronic Gaming Academy), will lead this masterclass, focusing on land-based casino operations. Tuesday’s session will delve into understanding electronic gaming player expectations and motivations, helping operators categorize casino visitors and tailor marketing strategies accordingly.

Wednesday’s session will examine how minimum and maximum bet settings on slot machines influence earning potential, while Thursday’s session will explore game configurations and promotions, focusing on RTP, game duration, and volatility to appeal to different player categories.

Counterterrorism, Crisis Response & Cybersecurity Masterclass

Noel G. Whelan, with a 30-year career in military and counter-terrorism environments, will conduct this masterclass. On Tuesday, attendees will participate in a crisis simulation session, "Surviving the Corporate Red 10," designed to enhance leadership and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.

Wednesday’s session will address strategies for deterring terrorism and money laundering in the digital economy, while Thursday’s session will focus on defending against cyber attacks, highlighting risk identification and strategies to protect company assets and reputation.

Sojmark added: “We’ve made sure that participants will walk away with certification, and by including subjects like sports betting, casino management, and cybersecurity, we’re truly addressing a wide range of interests.”
