Wire Industries Inc., the parent company of sports betting marketplace WagerWire, has closed a new funding round with investments from prominent figures in the sports betting and financial sectors. Among the high-profile backers are former Pinnacle CEO Paris Smith, investor Danny Moses, and GoodPaper Ventures.
Paris Smith, who played a key role in shaping modern sports betting during her tenure at Pinnacle, expressed confidence in WagerWire's potential. "What WagerWire offers to both bettors and operators creates a unique opportunity to support players and their needs," Smith said. "The founders—Zach, Travis, and Guy—are smart, passionate, and adaptable. I’m really excited to be on this journey with them."
WagerWire’s platform, which allows users to buy and sell active bets, aims to offer a modern betting experience. By introducing a secondary market for bets, the company enhances engagement and volume in high-margin bet types, offering new value for sportsbooks and players alike.
Scott Marshall, Co-Founder of Simplebet—acquired by DraftKings earlier this year—drew parallels between WagerWire’s secondary market and the rise of microbetting, which revolutionized the industry. "Their secondary market concept offers significant value to operators while expanding the overall betting experience for players," Marshall said.
This funding round builds on WagerWire’s momentum, which has already garnered support from industry innovators like Miami Marlins co-owner Roger Ehrenberg’s Eberg Capital and 305 Ventures, led by Betr and Simplebet Founder Joey Levy.
The platform’s achievements include winning the EGR Rising Star of the Year award and receiving nominations from SBC and Business Insider.
WagerWire CEO Zach Doctor said: "The addition of these investors gives WagerWire the support of both the initial pioneers of this industry as well as the innovators and disruptors of the new generation. We’re supercharging our efforts to bring a more efficient, open, and entertaining market to real money gaming, and unlocking value for the entire ecosystem."
