As the gaming industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace, Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2024 served as a key platform for showcasing emerging trends and technological advancements. From the growing role of AI in gaming to the rise of iGaming and the expanding opportunities in Latin America, the event highlighted critical shifts shaping the sector. The introduction of an expanded iGaming Zone and a strong focus on education sessions also underscored G2E’s role as a catalyst for industry dialogue and innovation.

In an interview with Yogonet, Korbi Carrison, Event Vice President of G2E at RX, shares her perspective on the key takeaways from G2E 2024, the issues that will shape 2025, and what industry stakeholders can expect from next year’s edition of the event.

What is your assessment of how the gaming sector developed in 2024? What role did the latest G2E edition play for industry stakeholders within this context, and which were this year's event highlights?

The gaming industry is a rapidly evolving space and G2E is designed every year to reflect that. In 2024 specifically, G2E showcased the growing integration of AI, enhancements in iGaming, and the continued rise in sports betting.

The event also highlighted the industry's adaptation to evolving regulations and the integration of 5G and cloud gaming technologies, promising faster, more immersive gaming experiences. Overall, G2E 2024 was a powerful demonstration of the industry’s rapid innovation.

We have seen online gaming and Latin America, with Brazil in specific, grow as two of the major topics of interest in the gambling industry. Do you expect these to be major issues in 2025 as well, and will G2E focus on them next year?

The excitement behind the growing Latin American gaming industry will continue to be captured and visible at G2E in 2025, just as it was in 2024. We can’t preview specifics this early on, but (we will) continue to see growth in this sector and are excited to see its presence in 2025 at the event.

Which other issues and trends would you say dominated the conversation this year, and how were they reflected at G2E?

From traditional and tribal gaming to iGaming and sports betting, every facet of the gaming industry was represented at G2E this year. One highlight for me was our expanded iGaming Zone, which once again received overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Our education sessions highlighted emerging issues and trends across the industry - one topic we focused on more than in years past was how the rise in AI will impact the industry.

Looking to G2E 2025, what should the gambling industry expect from next year’s edition? Are there any new plans or announcements you can share with us?

G2E continues to lead the gaming industry each year, and 2025 will be no exception. We can not only keep pace with the industry but really stay ahead of trends through our collaboration with the American Gaming Association (AGA).

Our annual call for content, which we will be releasing details about soon, helps create a diverse, up-to-date, and inclusive program. Again, it’s still too early to share specific details, but I can promise that the show will once again be relevant and impactful.
