The Ottawa Black Bears has announced a partnership agreement with PowerPlay Online Sportsbook and Casino. Under the terms of the deal, the company's logo will be featured on the Canadian professional box lacrosse team's home and away jerseys.
In addition to the jersey sponsorship, the six-figure deal will also provide PowerPlay with branding elements inside the goal crease, behind the bench, on the LED display ring, and along the rink boards for Black Bears home games at Canadian Tire Centre.
Moreover, as part of the multi-faceted agreement, PowerPlay also gains status as the lacrosse team's exclusive sportsbook and online casino partner.
"We are thrilled to have PowerPlay on board for our inaugural season with such a comprehensive sponsorship agreement," said Chelsea McDermott, vice president of business operations for the Ottawa Black Bears.
"Their six-figure investment with the Black Bears represents a foundational agreement for our lacrosse club. And we're proud to wear their logo alongside ours as we launch our franchise."
"We are excited to bring PowerPlay's bold, community-driven spirit to Ottawa-Gatineau, partnering with the Black Bears as they establish themselves as a force in lacrosse," said Thomas Vermeulen, Marketing Director for PowerPlay.
"This partnership celebrates a sport deeply tied to Canada's heritage and competitive energy. Together, we'll ignite passion, energize fans, and deliver excitement all season long."
As part of Yogonet's year-end special, Dean Serrao, Chief Executive Officer of PowerPlay, shared back in December insights into how the 12-month period fared for the sportsbook and online gaming operator.
"Looking back at 2024, it has been a year of consolidation for our business and one that has positioned us to continue on a strong growth trajectory in our core Canadian market. While many industry players focused on the 'gold rush' into new markets like Brazil, we made the strategic decision to double down on Canada as the key driver of our long-term success," the executive said at the time.
