Grosvenor Casino Thanet in Westwood Cross, Kent’s only casino, has received approval for a significant renovation, with plans to modernize the venue through new signage, lighting, and cladding.
CGI images of the project reveal a redesigned exterior featuring a circular logo and illuminated individual lettering, replacing the existing signage. The entrance will also be enhanced with a living wall teeming with plant life, adding a fresh aesthetic to the venue.
According to planning documents, the casino will maintain its table games, electronic gaming machines, bar, restaurant, and lounge areas, while receiving several structural and design upgrades.
Key improvements include the installation of aluminum cladding, illuminated stair nosing, and lighting enhancements for the canopy, roofline, and window frames. Structural posts will also be illuminated to enhance visibility and ambiance.
A Thanet District Council planning officer approved the redevelopment plans, stating that the project would have "no adverse impact upon the amenity of the surrounding area or public safety."
The casino features a variety of gaming and entertainment options, including 12 gaming tables, 20 slot machines, and a dedicated poker room. Additionally, it offers weekly live entertainment to enhance the overall experience for visitors.
The casino operates daily from midday, closing at 5 a.m. Sunday to Thursday and 6 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
