ICE's inaugural edition in Barcelona drew international buyers, thought leaders, and dignitaries to its new home at Fira Gran Via last week, a historic development for the major gambling exhibition, held outside London for the first.

The show provided a major opportunity for exhibitors to display their latest novelties, including iGaming content provider Galaxsys, which took the opportunity to debut its brand-new Figoal game, the result of its cooperation with football legend Luis Figo. Additionally, ICE provided a suitable platform to discuss the company's foray into slot-type games, "a very big milestone" for the supplier.

In an exclusive interview with Yogonet during the show, Vigen Safaryan, Chief Product Officer at Galaxsys, offered insights into these latest developments, in addition to discussing the latest trends in iGaming, the growing popularity of new game categories, and more.

What are your impressions of ICE Barcelona's inaugural edition?

ICE is the main show in the iGaming industry, year after year bringing a lot of attendees together under one roof, including plenty of our partners. For that reason, it's a very good environment to reach deals, meet our partners, and showcase our new products, whether it is to potential customers or existing clients.

Being the first time ICE is held in Barcelona, the event has a very unique vibe to it. The city is lovely and has very good weather, but most importantly, provides an appropriate environment for this type of show. We are very proud of what we are accomplishing here in Barcelona and hope all our expectations are met.

Now turning our attention to the company's showcase, what portfolio highlights were brought to ICE Barcelona?

As we do at every show, Galaxsys brings a very unique gaming portfolio to the floor, with plenty of special games to explore. This time, a major highlight is Figoal, the result of our cooperation with football legend Luis Figo. The title not only features Figo himself but also comes with very enjoyable game mechanics that I am sure will be highly attractive to players. I believe this game will see plenty of interest in the market.

Another thing that we are very proud to announce is that Galaxsys will start providing slot-type games, which is a very big milestone for us. We are presenting our three new slots, each of them with very unique gaming elements that are sure to engage players. We want them to choose our slots from all the games that are available in casinos.

Can you tell us a bit more about how the Figoal game was developed and what it means for the company to have this exclusive title in its portfolio?

When the decision to develop this game was reached, it felt like a big challenge. I'm a huge fan of Figo, and he was my favorite football player as a child. For that reason, developing a game based around him was very exciting for me, but also felt like a major test because the game had to be a success.

What we first did was decide what type of game concept we were going to use. After analyzing the market, we concluded that a crash-type game would be perfect, given how popular they are nowadays. But we didn't want to release just another crash game. We wanted to use some of the classic crash mechanics, yes, but also bring to the table some unique twists for the players.

I believe we were successful in achieving that. We have a game in which the player has plenty of room for interaction. As a brand, we are very proud of the title, because Luis Figo is a football superstar and we think Figoal effectively captures that.

How are the market and your clients' demands evolving? Any specific trends that you could highlight for us?

This is an industry where everything changes all the time. Technology is one major force driving change at the moment, with AI having a major impact on all sorts of industries — and iGaming is no exception.

Besides that, we have a new generation of players exploring online gaming. But they want something different; they seek new ways in which to interact with their games. We need to provide them with the types of games that cater to their preferences.

Galaxsys' games have proven successful with players around the world, in addition to earning industry accolades, such as Tower Rush's recent recognition as Best New Casino Game at the SiGMA Europe Awards. What explains this positive reception?

I think it all can be attributed to the company's spirit, which drives us to search for unique solutions. Whenever we start developing a new game, we avoid doing things in "automatic mode." We actively try to understand our players, the market, and the requirements of our partners.

After we do that, we exchange ideas and collaborate as a unit in that quest to find the right solution. It's all about applying our expertise to find the best match for the concrete problems the market and our players might be facing. To sum up, the keys are the team spirit that drives Galaxsys, listening to each other, and staying attentive to market needs.

Galaxsys is renowned for its non-traditional gaming portfolio, including crash games, turbo games, plinko, and more. What are your expectations for these categories in 2025? Do you see interest growing in this new year?

I believe we will see plenty of momentum around non-traditional gaming in 2025. As I said, a new generation is coming and they want something fresh in their online casino experiences, and it is this new type of gaming category that gives them that extra element of interaction that they are looking for.

For that reason, I think that, in the near future, the share of these types of games will continue rising within online casinos. Players look for new features, animations, and gameplay that go beyond what classical slots provide them. Categories like crash games offer them that new interactive element that has become a must-have.

Do you anticipate these types of games to be appealing to players in regions such as Latin America, where Brazil has just launched its regulated market, or the US, which is always a major expansion focus for global companies?

Definitely. As I said, whenever we develop a new game, what we do is understand our players and the market's needs. And data shows us that almost all markets are starting to adopt these games, which are very different from classic slots. Players are prepared for gaming experiences that go beyond what they already know.

Crash games are booming in Brazil, which you just mentioned. The US is also starting to become a very hot market for these types of games, and I would go as far as to call it a global trend altogether. I strongly believe the share of non-traditional gaming will rise monumentally.
