Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has appointed Reno deputy city attorney Chandeni Sendall to the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB), the state’s key regulatory body overseeing the gaming industry.

Sendall, who has served in Reno’s civil division since 2015, replaces Brittnie Watkins, who opted not to seek reappointment after four years on the three-member board. Her four-year term begins this week.

“With her unique background in law and compliance, Chandeni will bring fresh insight and critical perspective to the board,” Lombardo said in a statement. “I look forward to her leadership and contributions to gaming oversight in our state.”

Sendall brings a strong background in gaming law and compliance to her new role. Before joining Reno’s city attorney’s office, she gained valuable experience through various legal positions.

She interned with Caesars Entertainment’s in-house legal team, where she developed insights into gaming law. Sendall then clerked for Nevada Supreme Court Justice James Hardesty, further strengthening her legal expertise. Additionally, she worked in civil and commercial litigation at Lionel Sawyer & Collins and McDonald Carano Wilson LLP.

The new appointee holds a law degree from UNLV’s William S. Boyd School of Law, where she was editor-in-chief of the UNLV Gaming Law Journal. Before her legal career, she worked as an internal auditor for Caesars Entertainment.

“I’m grateful to Governor Lombardo for this opportunity to serve the State of Nevada,” Sendall said in a statement. “I look forward to applying my legal background, economics education, and gaming industry experience in this new role at the Nevada Gaming Control Board.”

Sendall’s appointment comes during a period of transition for the NGCB, as Chairman Kirk Hendrick has also announced plans to step down following the 2025 Nevada legislative session. Hendrick, who was appointed in 2023, previously served as Chief Operating Officer of the UFC and Senior Deputy Attorney General for gaming in Las Vegas.

The NGCB is responsible for regulating the state’s gaming sector, overseeing licensing, investigating complaints, and enforcing compliance with state regulations.

Each of the three board members is appointed by the governor for a four-year term, though many have historically departed before completing their full tenure.
