Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has named a new deputy director, set to take on the role from next Monday. Labor affairs veteran Lei Seak Chio will join the gambling regulator after serving as occupational health and safety chief.

Lei Seak Chio is stepping into the shoes of Lio Chi Chong, who was recently named acting director of the gaming inspectorate. His one-year appointment was announced via an official dispatch on Monday, signed by Tai Kin Yip, secretary for economy and finance.

Lei has been serving as the Labour Affairs Bureau’s chief of occupational health and safety, a position he has held since 2023, reports Macao News. He has been with the bureau since 2005. Monday's announcement cited his “professional competence and aptitude" as reasons for his appointment to the new role.

The leadership changes at the DICJ have been sparked by the departure of former director Adriano Marques Ho, who was appointed director-general of the Macau Customs Service.

Former deputy director Lio Chi Chong then became the gambling watchdog’s acting director. The appointment of a permanent director has not yet been finalized. DICJ’s second deputy director position, meanwhile, remains occupied by Chui Hou Ian.
