The Oneida Indian Nation celebrated the topping ceremony of its Point Place Casino expansion in New York. The event commemorated the addition of the final beam in the first phase of its $50 million upgrade project.
The expansion, announced in February last year, aims to meet the growing guest demand for additional amenities while capitalizing on economic growth throughout Central New York.
The extensive development will double the current gaming floor, introduce a multi-story hotel, open a new full-service restaurant, revamp the Fireside Lounge with 360-degree views of a central fireplace, double parking capacity, and create new retail space. The new features will open in phases starting this summer.
“Expanding Point Place Casino expands our shared success, making a better future not just for those of us here today, but for our grandchildren’s grandchildren unto the Seventh Generation and beyond,” said Ray Halbritter, Oneida Indian Nation representative and Turning Stone Enterprises CEO.
Town of Sullivan Supervisor Tom Daviau also highlighted the community impact, calling the expansion "a significant achievement" for the town. “The Oneida Indian Nation’s vision and commitment to this project have been instrumental in making this expansion a reality," he said.
Greg Lancette, president of the Central-Northern New York Building & Construction Trades Council, also praised the nation’s longstanding commitment to growth.
“We can count on that because the nation has a 30-year track record of constant reinvestment, building and growth,” he said. “When that next project comes – and we know it will – it’s going to be even bigger and better than the last.”
Oneida officials expect the expansion will boost job creation and stimulate economic growth in Madison County, reinforcing its role as a key driver of the local economy. It is expected to generate 250 construction jobs, along with numerous permanent full-time and part-time positions.
