FanDuel processed 16.6 million bets during Super Bowl LIX, a 19% increase from last year’s big game. The US sports betting giant, a division of Flutter Entertainment, reported that nearly three million active users placed wagers, with peak activity reaching 70,000 bets per minute.

However, the financial impact of this surge remains unclear. Operators like FanDuel will likely face low hold margins as bettors benefited from a favorable outcome — the Philadelphia Eagles' 40-22 victory in a high-scoring game. Sportsbooks had hoped for a Kansas City Chiefs win in a lower-scoring game.

Fans predicted a high-scoring game, with the majority picking the Over on the 48.5-point total ahead of kickoff,” FanDuel said in a press release.

Despite this bettor-friendly outcome, investors appeared unfazed. Flutter Entertainment shares closed modestly higher, while competitors DraftKings and Rush Street Interactive gained 1.32% and 2.41%, respectively.

FanDuel also launched its "Kick of Destiny 3" marketing campaign during Super Bowl LIX, featuring former Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks Eli and Peyton Manning. Eli, twice a Super Bowl winner with the New York Giants, was the winner of the field goal competition against his older brother.

Almost two million fans made a pick on ‘Kick of Destiny 3’, with over one million picking Eli who each will receive $10 in Bonus Bets,” the online sportsbook said.
