Pay4Fun, a payments company with a strong presence in the iGaming sector, was one of the companies that attended ICE Barcelona 2025 from January 20-22, an event that brought together more than 56,000 gambling stakeholders in Spain.

In an exclusive interview with Yogonet a few weeks after ICE, Pay4Fun CEO Leonardo Baptista assured that the event exceeded expectations. According to him, one of the trends detected during conversations with other industry representatives was the growing concern about the illegal market.

"Operators and payment methods in the sector are mobilizing to demand concrete actions from the SPA [Secretariat of Prizes and Betting] and the Central Bank to stop these irregular practices. In addition, there has been a strong movement towards solutions that improve the user experience, something that Pay4Fun has already been working on with specific tools for the sector," Baptista stated.

What is Pay4Fun's assessment of the recent edition of ICE Barcelona, an event that left its traditional London location and managed to attract a large number of visitors and exhibiting companies to the new venue?

ICE Barcelona was a very positive edition for Pay4Fun, exceeding our expectations, especially for being the first post-regulation edition for the Brazilian market. The event was well organized, with quality infrastructure and a large number of visitors and exhibiting companies, which demonstrated the growth and relevance of the event.

For us, it was an excellent opportunity to listen to the complaints and demands of operators, especially about the player registration process, which allowed us to further understand the pains of the market and reinforce our position as a reliable and experienced solution.

What solutions presented by the company stood out the most at the event and how were they received by the public?

At the event, Pay4Fun stood out primarily for our expertise in payment methods and the customized solutions we offer to operators. The main concern of the participants was the complexity of the KYC process and the onboarding of players.

The response was very positive, and many operators came to us to find out how we could help them overcome these challenges. Our solution was seen as a quality alternative with support that stands out from traditional banks, which offer more generic solutions focused solely on price.

ICE Barcelona was the big inaugural event of 2025. Based on everything you saw and heard at the event, what trends do you think will dominate the year in the industry?

The main trend we saw at ICE Barcelona was the growing concern about the illegal market, especially concerning offshore sites. Operators and payment methods in the sector are mobilizing to demand concrete actions from the SPA and the Central Bank to curb these irregular practices.

In addition, there has been a strong movement towards solutions that improve the user experience, something that Pay4Fun has already been working on with specific tools for the industry. In terms of technology, we expect an increase in the adoption of solutions such as recurring PIX, which will be a breakthrough in the payments market.

How does Pay4Fun view the start of regulation in Brazil? What challenges will the sector face in this new regulated market?

Pay4Fun looks favorably at the start of regulation in Brazil, as it believes it will bring more security and transparency to the market. However, the challenges are clear: inspection remains a critical point, especially in the fight against the illegal market, which directly affects the sector.

In addition, the enforcement of stricter requirements, such as KYC and bank registration, has generated friction among operators and affected the volume of deposits and wagers. Adapting to the new rules requires considerable effort, especially for sites that paid for the license and have had to make major operational changes.

Another important point we would like to add is that, despite the challenges facing the regulatory process, the Brazilian industry remains optimistic. Many operators are looking for solutions like Pay4Fun's, which not only offers technological innovation but also a deep understanding of the market's needs.

We are committed to remaining a reference in quality and to helping our clients navigate this new regulatory landscape, always with a focus on user experience and agile processes.
