Raketech Group has announced that Chairman Ulrik Bengtsson will step down from his position later this year after accepting a new full-time CEO role at another company. The affiliate and performance marketing firm confirmed the leadership change in a statement issued on March 20.
Bengtsson, who joined the Raketech board in May 2021, will remain in his current role until July 30. He is also expected to be available for re-election at Raketech’s upcoming annual general meeting scheduled for May. Details regarding the company where Bengtsson will assume his new CEO role have not yet been disclosed.
In response to the announcement, Raketech noted that the nomination committee has already initiated the process of identifying a new board member. The selected individual may also take on the role of non-executive chairman. The company stated that further updates would be shared in due course.
"The company appreciates this is an opportunity for Ulrik,” Raketech said. “We thank him for his contribution and dedication to the Raketech board since joining in May 2021."
Bengtsson, a veteran of the gaming and digital entertainment industries, described the CEO opportunity as a timely career step. “Stepping back into a full-time CEO role feels like the right professional move for me and the opportunity I have been presented with is compelling,” he said.
“I am confident that the entire Raketech board and executive team remain dedicated to strengthening the balance sheet and shaping an exciting strategy that I expect will be unveiled to investors in the coming months.”
Alongside his role at Raketech, Bengtsson currently serves as chairman of Hostelworld Group and City Gaming, and is associated with advisory firm Valluga Edge. He is best known in the gaming industry for his tenure as group CEO of William Hill between 2019 and 2022, following a period as the company’s chief digital officer. Prior to that, he spent over five years as group CEO of Betsson and also held CEO roles at Modern Times Group.
Bengtsson has also worked in senior positions at Virgin Media O2 and held sales and management roles at companies including Telenor, CtrlPrint, and IBM.
