Four members of Table Tennis England (TTE) have been suspended from the sport after a thorough international investigation uncovered evidence of match-fixing and suspicious betting activity, the UK Gambling Commission announced.

Luke Savill, Darius Knight, Joseph Langham-Ferreira, and Kazeem Adeleke were summoned to appear before the TTE Disciplinary Committee, facing charges of breaching the TTE Anti-Corruption Regulations, relating to betting on table tennis matches.

The investigation, which was spearheaded by the Gambling Commission’s Sports Betting Intelligence Unit (SBIU), began following reports of unusual betting patterns linked to British betting accounts and matches held in Ukraine in 2020. These irregularities triggered a multi-faceted inquiry, with intelligence shared across various stakeholders, including the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), which provided vital support in the investigation.

This case highlights the importance of global collaboration in protecting the integrity of sport,” said Andrew Rhodes, Chief Executive of the Gambling Commission. “Over the past five years, stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions have worked together to investigate and address concerns around match-fixing.”

He further emphasized that protecting the integrity of sports is a collective responsibility, with those attempting to manipulate outcomes facing increasing scrutiny. “The message is clear: integrity in sport matters, and efforts to uphold it will continue," Rhodes added.
